Our Government Embarks on Hosting Saemangeum Jamboree
Officially Launching Korean Bidding Committee for the World Scout Jamboree
Korean Bidding Committee officially launched to support hosting ‘World Scout Jamboree 2023’ in Saemangeum in the dimension of our government.
‘World Jamboree Korean Bidding Committee’ held its launching or starting ceremony in GLAD Hotel Yeouido, Seoul, in the afternoon on Feburary 9 when in this ceremony participated about 200 persons, including Kang Eun Hi, the Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Song Ha Jin, the Governor of Jeollabuk-do, Lee Byeong Guk, the Administrator of Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency, Kim Jong Gyu, the Mayor of Buan-gun, and persons related to the Departmnet of Foreign Affairs, Korea Tourism Organization, and Korea Scout Association.
The Bidding Committee will have established and formulated overall policies and bidding strategies until August 17 when the final venue will be decided.
As our government departments undertake the bid to host the jamboree, it is expected that there will be synergy effects on targeting domestic and foreign voting intentions.
The Department of Gender Equality and Family, the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Korea Scout Association are scheduled to embark on their strategic bidding activities in that they will target voting intentions over the core subjects by states.
Song Ha Jin, the Governor of Jeollabuk-do, emphasized in his words of encouragement, “I am assured that the bidding committee will serve as a foundation for succeeding in hosting the world scout jamboree and so will necessarily host World Scout Jamboree 2023 so as to enhance the prestige of Korea and publicize the name of Jeollabuk-do to the world.”
World Scout Jamborees are the camping events of worldwide scouts held every four years, whose 25th World Scout Jamboree 2023 about 50,000 adolescents from all over the world are expected to attend. Its final venue will be decided by the votes of 163 member states during the 41st World Scout Conference held in Azerbaijan in August 2017.
