Jeollabuk-do promotes additional reduction countermeasures on the basis of ‘A Study on Analyzing the Characteristics of Particulate Matters and Forming the Measures for Controling Particulate Matters’.

According to the results of analyzing provincial particulate matter emission quantity in Jeollabukdo Institute of Health & Environment Research, PM2.5 emission levels were high due to fugitive dust emission, biomass burning, and road mobile pollution sources.

In addition, the rates of organic carbon and elemental carbon(OC/EC) and the rates of PM10 and PM2.5 as secondary particulate matters in the atmosphere were high compared with other regions.

For this reason, in order to reduce fugitive dust emission, Jeonbuk Province operates increased sprinkler trucks in construction sites and conducts the change and reduction of construction time. Especially, in order to eradicate illegal incineration owing to biomass burning, the Ministry of Agriculture establishes the system to collect agricultural residue, and also designates and operates ‘the day of incineration’ for byproduct composts.

Moreover, in order to control mobile pollution sources, this Province plans to expand the early scrapping of diesel vehicles into more than 66,000 vehicles by 2023, and then develop and support the projects to reduce volatile organic compounds(VOCs) and ammonia(NH3) along with our cities and counties.

In order to reduce particulate matters, our Province plans to supply increased environment-friendly vehicles including electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles, and support the cost for installing more than 100 prevention facilities to small-scale workplaces emitting air pollutants. Furthermore, this Province examines the project contest to install urban air cleaners as well.

Besides, in order to eliminate ammoniacal substance as secondary air pollutants, this Jeonbuk Province plans to support sealing composting facilities, reduction facilities, and deodorizers, and further shorten the lead time to dump swine manure from 60 days to 24 days.
