Is Going to Publish a Dialect Dictionary and Hand out It at Schools, Public Organizations Etc. Next Year

What are 'gaegurakji (frogs), gaegori, kkaegorakji, gaeguraegi, meogurk'? They all mean frogs in Jeollabuk-do.

Jeollabuk-do publishes Jeollabuk-do Dialect Dictionary after settling 11,640 Jeollabuk-do dialects.

The dictionary included Jeonbuk dialects contained at Korean Direct Material Collection, Provincial Language Research Collection, and Standard Korean Dictionary. This publishment work progressed for 2 years from 2017 to 2018 by asking Korean Language Cultural Institute, Jeonju University.

Referred to were the literary works such as ' Honbul' written by Choi Myeong Hi under the background of Namwon and 'Arirang' written by Jo Jeong Rae under the background of Gimje etc.

The dictionary helped understand respective dialects by adding the regions used mostly together with the responsive words, sources, and related words. The dialect sentences cited from literary works were contained without any alteration.

Jeonbuk dialects don't include so many fortes and typically lengthen tunes.

Jeonbuk dialect contains 10 vowels used in standard words completely and is accepted without hardship by the inhabitants living at other provinces, because it doesn't include so many aspirated consonant.

Jeollabuk-do will hand out the dictionary compiled as such next year to public organization, educational institute etc., and publicize it in the form of E-BOOK at home pages.
